The
Sanitary Workers Welfare Board was constituted on 11th June 2007 to ensure the
welfare and empowerment of sanitary workers. The Board was established to
formulate and recommend schemes and programs for the upliftment of sanitary
workers and their dependents.
The
Hon’ble Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare serves as the Chairperson of the
Board.
As
of 22nd September 2023, the Scavengers Workers Welfare Board (SWWB) has been
renamed as the Tamil Nadu Cleanliness Workers Welfare Board (TNCWWB)

Board has been reconstituted with the following composition:

This
reconstitution was formalized through G.O. Ms. No. 61, Adi Dravidar and Tribal
Welfare (ADW.6) Department, dated 03.05.2023.
Membership and Benefits
A
total of 2.57 persons have registered with the Tamil Nadu Cleanliness Workers
Welfare Board and identity cards have been issued.
So
far, 14,951 members have benefitted under the welfare schemes, with a total
disbursement of ₹ 4.25 Crores.
Housing Scheme
Under the announcement made by the Hon’ble Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare
during the 2022-2023 Budget Session.
In the years 2022-23
and 2023-24, a total of 1,000 houses will be provided to homeless members of
the Tamil Nadu Cleanliness Workers Welfare Board
This housing
initiative will be implemented through the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat
Development Board at an estimated cost of ₹55.00 Crores.
